My story "Backbone" is a finalist in Redivider's 2nd Annual Quickie Contest, and "There Will Be Sense" is a finalist in the DIAGRAM Innovative Fiction Contest. The latter will appear in DIAGRAM's summer issue.
Thanks, guys! The Redivider contest is indeed the one they do at AWP. I hope they send me a copy of the story if they don't print it, because I lost the thing.
Molfe, I want to see updates on ABQ stat. Here's a story idea: A confused man, living out his last days in a U-Haul office with too many windows. At the climax of the piece, he takes a long whiff of his watermelon-flavored Gatorade...
Way to go, Amelia! How small did you write on the postcard? Did you draft or just take the plunge? Seeing your post there, Carmen, reminded me that I had a dream about you last night, and that you'd had plastic surgery and looked just like a young Meryl Streep. (Don't do it, by the way.)
I'm so happy that that is the contest. I think I'm obsessed with it b/c I knew you would win it if you decided to. Hooray for that!!! hooray for Diagram!!! Hooray for the salvation army!!!
I did two drafts off the card, messed up the card and had to ask for a new one, at which point they were out of cards so I ended up writing it on a very large notecard. It's a wonder they let me enter at all, really. I think it was about 1,000 words in the end. I think it is about a house.
I wish I could say last night I dreamed about Streep too, or about noses, about brown eyes (aren't her;s brown?), about that murder becomes her movie; it was kind of funny. Then it would be a sort of cosmic connection that meant something concerning our futures, and we would know with certainty that we'd be rich soon. But I don't think I've been dreaming lately, or don't remember the dreams.

Good Job!
Beautiful. I'm proud of you.
Gray, you are owed a rousing round of applause and a hearty congrats. I'll give em to you next time I see you.
Is that the redivider contest from AWp? (Don't ask me why I'm obsessed with that contest b/c I don't know.)
You also win Molfe's Annual Best Mover Award! Congratulations. You really are the best, Dish Barrel.

You were taller in the dream, too. Are you sure you haven't gotten taller? Now that would be cosmic.
Congrats! Can't wait to see you!
