Dude got his 15 minutes in the States for writing "A Reader's Manifesto," (mentioned in his credits). Besides being a prof. of Korean literature (wtf?) he's made a second career of sorts as the malcontent critic. That essay ("Manifesto") was a good read; it was funny and cracked on Daffy DeLillio, Too Cool For School Proulx, and crotchety ol' Cormac. He seems to enjoy taking shots at National Book Award winners. I kind of respect that.
